CAMP FEES 2008 - How Much, Why, and how to pay....
The camp membership fee for 2008 will be $100, payable in advance. If you would like to see where the money goes, please feel free to check out the camp budget page, http://www.blackrockburnerhostel.com/budget.htm
Here are the most important points about the camp fee.
a) All fees to be payed up front, and well in advance, and no later than the final date!!! We will post this date shortly. This is to avoid the need to collect cash on playa( we dont want to even HEAR about cash at the burn, let alone see it, let alone HANDLE the filthy stuff...
b) We can only accept payment via PAYPAL. this allows us to see who's paid, automates the entire process, and is secure, timely, and convenient. If you don't have a paypal account, its no problem to set one up, or just ask a friend who has one to send your money through.
c) If you cannot make it to Burningman for any reason, your fee will be fully refunded.
d) Some people still owe money from last year. if you are one of those people and wish to come back in 2008, well, sadly you'll be asked to pay your outstanding fees as well.. eg an extra $75.... please volunteer to pay before we have to ask for it...
e) Just to reiterate!!! ALL PAYMENTS to be paid in full by the due date, absolutely no cash on arrival....
f) The sooner you can pay your fee, the better. Early payment allows the hostel to pay operating costs and to avoid interest surcharges on expenses that occur related to purchases that are made at different times throughout the year - for example, in 2008 we will be making a big investment in much better & more professional lighting, and need money during the year to jump on any particularly good deal that may come up. The other big expense we are facing this year is paying off our big old UHaul moving truck, which was bought on credit 2 years ago, and still hasn't been paid off.
g) Please Be advised that early payment of camp fees DOES NOT automatically entitle you to membership of the camp. If you pay your camp fee, but for some reason are turned down for membership, we will refund your fee in full. So if you are one of the few people who didn't help out in camp in 2007, or one of the even fewer who got bawled out by Xray, Moonpuppy, or whoever, maybe you should hold back on paying your fee until you hear that you have been approved.

If you would like to make an additional donation, please send it in a different transfer, with an explanation/suggestion in the message box, or use the "donate" button on the homepage.
ONE FINAL NOTE: The fee of $100 may or may not increase slightly as the year progresses, depending on projected costs for 2008. We just don't know at this early stage. Year after year the hostel has gone into the red, and we can no longer sustain the financial drain on the organisers personal bank accounts. Please stay tuned, and we will keep everyone posted on final camp fee as the picture grows clearer.
